Enthusiastic. This one word sums up our sweet Darla. If you ask Darla if she wants to fetch, she enthusiastically runs to her ball and brings it back. If you ask Darla if she wants to swim, she enthusiastically leaps into the nearest water, ready to retrieve whatever item you might throw her way. If you ask Darla if she wants to go for a jog, she enthusiastically waits for her leash to be put on and will go as far as you’d like to take her. If you ask Darla if she wants to cuddle, she calmly lies down and soaks up the attention you give her. An enthusiastic ‘YES!” is Darla’s answer to any question!
Part of the reason for Darla’s enthusiasm is that she lives with our dear friend Monique, who is a competitive tri-athlete. By nature, Monique is game for anything and it is clear that Darla was meant to be her girl. Together, they have explored countless miles – running, jogging, swimming – they do it all together. If a dog is permitted, Monique takes Darla with her.
As a result, Darla is an extremely well-socialized girl and is shockingly fit. She is also a super listener and nothing is more important to her than pleasing her owner. She is a thoroughly kind dog who welcomes the affection of all humans and canines. She is a beautiful example of a true Golden Retriever.
Physically, Darla is a lovely dog. She possesses a gorgeous head set, dark pigment and an extremely soft, flat coat. Her eyes exude the devotion and affection that are the hallmark of the Golden Retriever breed, set into a head that is both strong and feminine. Large boned and athletic, Darla is a simply beautiful girl and we are grateful to count her as one of our own!
